It all started with a cup of coffee
"Ah~ It's raining down hard out there." You rushed into the little cafe with your arms over your head to shield your from the pouring rain. All across your shoulders and your hair you had gotten wet, but somehow managed to stay more dry with rest of your body. You were a bit worried about your bag getting wet because you didn't want the new books you had just borrowed from the library to be soaked.
At the sound of a jingling bell, the cafe's staff turned to you, welcoming you with a smile. "Welcome to Anteiku." A young man with pitch black hair and an eye patch over his left eye turned and smiled at you, along with a young girl with navy blue hair.
You bowed slightly and walked over to an empty table and sat down in a seat that was right beside the window. You but your damp bag on your lap and opened to check if the borrowed books were alright, and they were. "*Sigh* You breathed out a sight of relief. "Thank goodness they aren't wet. I guess I'll just stay in here until the rain stops."
"Welcome to Anteiku." The same young man walked up to you with a smile. "Is there anything you would like?"
With a single inhale, the smell of freshly brewed coffee wrapped around your nostrils and made your lips turn up. "One cup of coffee with 2 drops of sugar, please."
"Coming right up." He said, bowed and then turned to get your order.
As you watched him walk off, you gave the place a look around. "Wow, this place feels so warm and cozy." You put your elbow on the table and supported your head with your hand. "How have I never noticed this little shop before." You starred out the window and watched the droplets of rain shower down from the dark and gray sky. "Places like this, like home, are just right for sitting down and having a read with a good book. It's the perfect mood to read." With that said, you went inside the bag and took out an hard covered and off-white colored book and opened it to the first page.
"Here you are miss." The young man came back and placed the coffee before you.
"Oh," You looked up from the book to looked at him. "Thank you." After your words, you took the tea cup, took a sip from it. "Wow this is really good! I should tip." You mumbled the last to yourself. You then resumed your reading.
Before he turned to take another customers order, his eyes shifted down to the books cover and he read the title. "Spider lily's Cry" He mumbled to himself. His eyes were glued to the book and he couldn't move away. He stood there, entranced by the book.
"Eh?" You looked his way as you heard the books title.
"O-Oh um..." He stared sweating and darting his eyes back and forth between different items in the shop. "S-sorry."
"Do you know this book?" You asked while putting down the book.
"Y-Yes I do. It's one of my favorites."
"Really?" You smiled. "I just borrowed it from the library up town. Do you like books?"
"I love them." He answered back, now able to look you in the eye a bit better.
"Well isn't that something, I feel the same way. This author, I love his work. His stories always leave me with goosebumps up and down my skin in the end." You took your hand and rubbed your arm to show. "Either that, or I end up in tears for the next 3 days or so." You laughed. The young man couldn't help but find himself blushing; a small smile rising upon his lips. "So, what about you? Who is your favorite author?"
"Mine is-"
"Kaneki!" The young man responded to the name and turned to find the young girl from earlier calling him. "The manager wants to see you."
"Alright."
"So, your name is Kaneki." You spoke out. Kaneki turned to look at you. "My name is (f/n) (l/n)." You flashed him a smile once more. "It's very nice to meet you, Kaneki-san."
"Likewise!" He bowed. "Will you be coming here tomorrow?" He asked.
"Would you like me to come tomorrow?" You smirked, knowing somewhat where this was leading.
"I wouldn't mind at all." He said.
"Then I'll come." You waved as Kaneki turned to go behind the counter and through a door. As you looked over and out the window t see the scenery, you saw that the rain had stop completely. 'Well, it looks like it's good to leave now, but I just started the book. Well, I'll read until chapter 10 and then leave."
